Career in software development

Hey all, looking at possibly pursuing a career in software development. I'm fairly knowledgeable in the world of cyber security in regards to certs, etc. But I'm curious on if there is certs or similar things for software development. Dipping my toes and learning a little bit about coding through code academy on Python as that was recommended as a good start point to learning code. Also, what does an average day look like as a software developer?
