When introducing new features on software or platforms are there any methodologies used to measure the potential societal impact of that potential feature. I doubt most companies do that, and in most cases it doesn't really apply. However, there are some products which if introduced could have an impact on society (whether big or small). For example, the introduction of a retweet button on Twitter had a huge impact on society (and the original developer regrets it). Are there any methodologies to examine this type of potential impact (for example things like spread of disinformation, or environmental impact…etc.). I would imagine most smaller companies wouldn't have something like this, however some of the bigger ones might. We want to be environmentally and societally conscious, so are trying to see how other companies do it.
