What is the easiest front end framework?

For a little background, I want to develop a server to do multi-player board games and chat. Just for the purpose of learning a backend framework andpractice. I'm really not interested in pursuing front end development, but it's necessary for this application. Just would like recommendation for a relatively easy front end do play tic tac toe, maybe chess or cards etc.
