Two types of development

I was recently thinking about the different types of development. Type 1: This is the "fast paced type" which i currently have to do at my job. I am relatively a noob at software engg with about 9 months of exp. I work at a payments related company and our team manages the applications that send notifications to merchants/users.. the requirements keep coming fast and we have to code stuff up quite quickly and we have to monitor the server load on our production servers.. so its an extremely involved type of software development job where you have to be on your toes.

Type 2: This is the one which is kind of slow paced, incremental software dev. I imagine that tools like MS Excel, Word or maybe Chrome etc.. must have team working on things in the backend optimising things and so on but there is probably no pressure that comes from having to meet deadlines for someone external to your company.. I dont know much about this type of dev and what goes into it so I would love any info about from people working at such places…

Any thoughts are welcome.. if you think there are even more types of jobs you can share, pls do.
